Sants, França and the trains that leave

Barcelona has two headline stations — Sants for high speed and the Mediterranean corridor, and Estació de França for some long routes and cruise passengers — plus a commuter hub tying them together.

Sants, the total station

High speed to Madrid and France, commuters to the whole region and metro underneath: it's where nearly everything happens. Arrive with margin: it's big and platforms change numbers late.

França and the old town

Estació de França, beside El Born and the zoo, is the city's most beautiful station and serves some long routes and the neighboring cruise piers. If your train leaves from here, the approach walk is already part of the trip.

Commuters for day trips

The cercanías are the cheap key to escapes: Montserrat with the rack-railway transfer, the Penedès and the beaches south and north. They leave from Sants, Plaça Espanya and Passeig de Gràcia.
